BIG BLUE ROCK

Words & Music © Martin Irons

Down Milky Way among some hundred billion stars

There’s a cool blue world between Venus and Mars

But right now it’s reeling, rocked to the core

Rolled by Earthlings burning up the floor

Temperature's rising, let’s dance the greenhouse blues

Can’t seem to shake that pesky CO2

Oil-spoiled water, a breeze that can’t be breathed

Junk gyrating in the sea

There’s a big blue rock

This planet’s got the lot

It’s a rock that rocks

It’s the only one we’ve got

Now the trashing has to stop

Or this big blue rock is gonna roll,

                                     out of control

                                     down a big black hole

(Solo)

It’s a wildlife limbo, how low can numbers go

They’ll be doing the dodo, their last tango on the globe

A chainsaw breakdance, gutting gets the goods

They wanna wreck, wreck, wreck every neck of the woods

Well we’re coming to the crunch, twisting on the brink

Stomping with footprints getting way too big

A population that won’t settle for less

The grandkids can fix up the mess

If there’s anything left

There’s a big blue rock

This planet’s got the lot

It’s a rock that rocks

It’s the only one we’ve got

Now the trashing has to stop

Or this big blue rock is gonna roll,

                                     out of control

There’s a big blue rock

This planet’s got the lot

It’s a rock that rocks

The coolest world there ever was

Now the trashing has to stop

Or this big blue rock is gonna roll,

                                     out of control

                                     down a big black hole
